Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Tim Heitz has played a key role in numerous DreamWorks Animation’s most celebrated and iconic films over his fifteen-year tenure with the company. Most recently, he served as co-director on Trolls Band Together, the third installment of the blockbuster franchise starring Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake. Over the years, Heitz has played a key role in the success of the property, having served as head of story on Trolls World Tour and as a story artist on Trolls.
Additional credits include work as a story artist on How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, Penguins of Madagascar, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, Megamind, Monsters vs. Aliens, and Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa.
Heitz made his directorial debut at DreamWorks Animation on the 2021 holiday Sspecial Trolls Holiday in Harmony, which he also wrote. He studied at San Jose State University and St. Louis Community College.
