In the near future, advancements in technology have rendered most labor meaningless. Humans can upload their consciousness into the Starry Sky before they die so that they can live forever through the eternal existence of their memories. The Starry Sky is a place within an advanced virtual reality network and its existence has led to society no longer fearing death.

At a young age, Nike is tasked with the honor of working a rare, lauded position as an administrator over the Starry Sky, a job reserved only to society’s elites. Nike is considered a prodigy and seems on a path destined for greatness, but soon struggles to find meaning in her life.

Director Shingo Natsume established himself as a visionary unafraid to tell cerebral, unconventional stories, and proved his masterful command of animation as a storytelling medium through his series Sonny Boy. ghost – end of night is his follow-up and marks his first ever original feature film after a career directing anime hits like One-Punch Man, Space Dandy, and ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept. Adorned with moody environments and Natsume Ono’s stunning character designs, the combination of Director Natsume’s bold storytelling with the masterful animating skills of studio MADHOUSE makes for a thrillingly haunting experience that will linger in your mind much like a ghost.
