In Chinese folklore, a “Yao” is a spirit often feared as evil — an animal that gains supernatural powers through years of cultivation. From Lang Lang Mountain comes one such Yao, a mischievous little wild pig, who dreams of proving himself worthy to join the prestigious King’s Cave. But when a mishap enrages the King, he is banished from his home. The little pig has no choice but to embark on an unlikely journey with his childhood friend, a toad Yao. Together, these outcast Yaos take on a quest that mirrors the fabled Journey to the West.

The legendary epic that tells the story of the monk Tang Sanzang and his three disciples: Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, and Sha Wujing has been told and retold countless times with inspiring heroic interpretations. Nobody joins this rich history of storytelling with its own unique spin by following a misfit group of losers who masquerade as the legendary heroes. As the four Yao get caught up in an ever-escalating lie of their own making,

The unique spin on the beloved classic weaves together witty comedy and tender emotion that will take you from side-splitting laughter to tears. With traditional ink-washing techniques and dynamic, fluid animation Nobody is an unforgettable cinematic experience that comes to life with characters bursting with energy and comedic chops. After making history by breaking the all-time box office record for 2D animation in China with a splashy debut in August, Nobody makes its US Premiere at Animation Is Film.
