Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Justin K. Thompson is currently serving as production designer on Sony Pictures Animation’s computer animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which is slated for theatrical release in December 2018.

Previously, Justin K. Thompson served as the production designer on Sony Pictures Animation’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and its sequel Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs 2—the taste-full 3D comedies inspired by the perennially popular children’s book of the same name by Judi Barrett and Ron Barrett. In his role, Justin created the look of the franchise.

With over twenty years of experience in the animation industry, Justin has been fortunate to work on some of the most groundbreaking television programs. Over the past ten years, he has made the transition to visual development and production design on digitally animated feature films.

Prior to joining Sony Pictures Animation, Justin worked at The Orphanage Animation Studios, The Jim Henson Company and Lucasfilm Animation Company. His credits include How to Eat Fried Worms (Art Director), The Power of the Dark Crystal (Visual Development Artist) and Viking (Art Director).

Justin spent five years at The Cartoon Network, receiving various credits on such television programs such as The Powerpuff Girls (key background design/storyboard artist) and Samurai Jack (key background designer). He also served as a Visual Development Artist/Background Supervisor on The Cartoon Network’s critically acclaimed hit, The Clone Wars, and in September, 2005, he was awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement In Animation, in recognition for his background design work on that series. Justin was also part of the creative team that brought The Powerpuff Girls to the big screen, serving as both visual development artist and key background designer on the feature.

Justin also served as a visual development artist on a number of projects at The Walt Disney Television Animation Company, DreamWorks SKG Television and Film Roman.
